AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS

AND HOW SEAMLESS GARMENTS CAN HELP

WHY YOU NEED SEAMLESS GARMENTS

Overstimulation + Seam Sensitivities

Children with autism often experience hypersensitivity to one or many of our common senses. Something that may seem commonplace to many people -- like a sock seam or an itchy tag in clothes – can be completely overwhelming to a child with autism. Children experiencing this overstimulation may refuse to wear certain clothing or they may melt down when an irritating seam rubs on the toes, the sock doesn’t fit right on the feet, or if the sock wrinkles or bunches in the shoes.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Eliminate Irritation + Provide Relief

SmartKnitKIDS products provide an extraordinary solution for many children with autism and their parents. All SmartKnitKIDS products are completely seamless, eliminating this annoying point of irritation. Our products do not have tags or elastic of any kind, and they stay in place without causing indentations on the skin. Our materials are made of super soft yarns to provide kids with extra comfort. The form-fitting design fits snuggly, but not tightly, to a child’s feet, avoiding the wrinkling and bunching that bothers many children. Finally, the moisture-wicking properties keep feet dry and healthy.
